NIPT is a simple blood test from 10 weeks gestation, from the mother and is not associated with miscarriage. The result will be available in approximately 2 weeks.

NIPT analyses cell-free DNA circulating in the pregnant mother’s blood. It is a new option in pre-natal screening for DOWN SYNDROME (Trisomy 21) and other common fetal chromosomal conditions ( trisomies 18 and 13).

The test identifies more than 99% of fetuses with trisomy 21, 98% of fetuses with trisomy 18 and 80% of fetuses with trisomy 13.
